Guide
Every chain installs in under two minutes once you match the file to the right home. Start with the format table, jump to your section, and if anything fights you — the bottom of this page goes straight to me.
Match the file
FMT-01
| File | Opens in | Will never open in |
|---|---|---|
| .adg | Ableton Live (10+) | Logic, Pro Tools, FL |
| .cst | Logic Pro | Ableton, any other DAW |
| .xps | Waves StudioRack (any DAW) | systems without StudioRack installed |
| .xml | iZotope Ozone (version-matched) | a different Ozone version's folder |
Ableton Live (.adg)
Ultimate Master Chain — Ableton edition
- 01
Open the project you want to master, or a new set with your bounced mix on a track.
- 02
In Finder / Explorer, locate the .adg file from your download.
- 03
Click the MASTER track's name in Ableton first (this is the step people skip — dropping without selecting the track is why the drag gets rejected).
- 04
Drag the .adg directly onto the master track. The full 8-macro rack loads with every setting in place.
- 05
To install it permanently: drag the .adg into your User Library in Ableton's browser (left sidebar). It's now available in every project.
If it fights you
The drag does nothing / bounces back
Click the track header first so Ableton knows where the rack is going, then drag again. Also confirm you're dragging the .adg, not the ZIP it came in.
Rack loads but macros look unmapped
You're likely on Live 9 or older — the chain needs Live 10+. Update, or use the Waves/StudioRack edition which is DAW-independent.
Logic Pro (.cst)
Ultimate Master Chain — Logic edition
- 01
Quit Logic Pro if it's open.
- 02
In Finder, press Cmd+Shift+G and go to: ~/Music/Audio Music Apps/Channel Strip Settings/Output
- 03
If the Output folder doesn't exist, create it exactly with that name inside Channel Strip Settings.
- 04
Copy the .cst file into that Output folder.
- 05
Open Logic, click the Setting button at the top of the master (Stereo Out) channel strip, and the chain appears in the menu. Load it — every plugin and setting comes with it.
If it fights you
The chain doesn't appear in the Settings menu
Restart Logic — it scans the folder on launch. Confirm the file is in Channel Strip Settings/Output, not in Channel Strip Settings directly.
A plugin in the strip shows as missing
The Logic edition uses stock plugins only, so update Logic to a current version. The PA-Logic edition needs the Plugin Alliance plugins installed first — see that section.
Waves StudioRack (.xps)
Ultimate Master Chain — Waves edition
- 01
Install Waves StudioRack (free from Waves) plus the Waves plugins listed on your product page, via Waves Central.
- 02
Open your DAW — any DAW works: Ableton, Logic, Pro Tools, FL, Cubase.
- 03
Load StudioRack as the last insert on your master bus.
- 04
Inside StudioRack, click the preset menu → Load → select the .xps file from your download.
- 05
The full chain loads inside StudioRack with every setting in place.
If it fights you
The .xps is greyed out in the load dialog
You're browsing from the wrong plugin — the .xps must be loaded from INSIDE StudioRack's own preset menu, not your DAW's preset system.
Chain loads but a slot says 'missing plugin'
One of the required Waves plugins isn't installed or licensed on this machine. Open Waves Central, install/activate it, reopen the DAW.
iZotope Ozone (.xml)
Ultimate Master Chain — Ozone edition (9–12)
- 01
Your download contains a separate preset file per Ozone version — use the one matching YOUR version (a 12 preset won't load in 10).
- 02
Open Ozone (plugin or standalone) on your master bus.
- 03
Click the preset browser at the top of Ozone's window.
- 04
Use the preset menu's import/add option and select the matching .xml — or copy it into Ozone's preset folder (Documents/iZotope/Ozone [version]/Presets on most systems) and restart the DAW.
- 05
Load the preset: the full module chain and every setting appears.
If it fights you
Preset won't import or errors on load
Version mismatch is the cause 9 times out of 10 — double-check you grabbed the file named for your exact Ozone version.
I'm on Ozone Elements
Elements doesn't include all modules the chain uses — the preset needs Ozone Standard or Advanced. The Ableton/Logic stock editions are the zero-extra-cost alternative.
Plugin Alliance builds
Ultimate Master Chain — PA (Ableton + Logic editions)
- 01
Install every Plugin Alliance plugin listed on your product page first — the chain can't load plugins that aren't on the machine.
- 02
Activate them in the Plugin Alliance manager and confirm each opens in your DAW on its own.
- 03
Then follow the Ableton (.adg) or Logic (.cst) steps above for the edition you own — the PA chains install exactly the same way.
If it fights you
Chain loads with empty or bypassed slots
That slot's PA plugin isn't installed/activated. The slot name tells you which one — install it via the PA manager and reload the chain.
